My asthma became severe for a season, so I was struggling to breathe when in my daily Bible readings were Psalms 145-147. I was particularly struck by Psalm 146:1-2, which says, “Praise the LORD! Let all that I am praise the LORD. I will praise the LORD as long as I live. I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath.” When I read that, I laughed aloud because it did feel at the time that I might be on my last breath. And I was reminded that whatever strength and breath I have left I can use to praise the Lord – this is why He has created us. So I began to sing praises to God and in response, God gave me this song.
We are dependent upon God for everything – our life, each blessing, every breath comes from God. So let’s use all that God has given us to praise and honour His name! With whatever strength God has given us today, let’s proclaim His faithfulness!
